Primary School

Everyday I passed by my old school on my way to work shuffling and balancing myself on a crowded STAR LRT. I will normally take a 1.5 litre Tupperware plus my lunch box and together with my 1.73 meter and 165 lbs body frame I will balance myself on a crowded LRT. As the train approach a station my muscle will tense up ready for the sudden brake. With one hand on the rail and the others holding on my little black bag which contains my things, my feet will do a balancing act. The reason I do this is that I afraid that I will bump into some girls and I will be labelled as “Wolf”. Normally as I was doing this the train will reached the back of my school.

There are a lot of memories in the few buildings that is still on top of the hills. During primary school I was in the top class. During those days, all I have is a single bag which carries my text and exercise book for the day. I think the best time during school is recess whereby I could savour my delicious Chicken Rice and Yee Mee. I love these foods. The chicken rice is not those type of chicken rice that we eat now, the rice is black in colour due to the gravy, and it’s like a hybrid of the normal chicken rice and clay pot chicken rice. After eating lunch, I will normally carry along my little marble and goes behind the school yard. That’s where the marble warlords gathered around and have their quick game before going back to the

I could not remember the rules of the game but what I do remember is that there is a hole. That hole is like home. The winner could get some free marble or the winner could actually use their marble to knock the loser marble in an agreed number of times. This is with the thinking that it will cause some damage to the loser marble. I am not sure why but now I think it will cost the same damage for both. At that time it was fun. There is even a ranking system whereby the lower rank will always fight with the lower rank. There are also cases whereby the higher rank will gives some kind of handicap to the lower rank to entice them to battle. Actually who create all these rules?

I also remember clearly the wooden chair that we sat on. There are cravings and words being written on it. Some with SS love AA message and some with very strong F**k and whatever possible bad words you know of. I just scanned an old school photo of mine, this one is when I was in Standard Six and when I am still quite thin(?), just guess who is me, click on it for a bigger picture. If I could recall some old tales from this period, I will blog about it. Just let me dig.....
