Ancient City, Ayutthaya

I am not sure why but there is an urge to travel. This urge magnify during my last trip to Bangkok. I guess its the shutter bug bitting me. I told my wife; let’s go to the ancient city, Ayutthaya. I have been there 11 years ago with another group of colleague but not with my wife.

Ayutthaya is actually under the World Heritage list. It’s was a tiring trip; we started the journey from 8:30 am, reached there at around 10 plus. This follows by trips to the tourist center, lunch, new temples, old temples, old palace and hundred over photo later we arrived back in Bangkok close to 6pm.

There are a lot of interesting place, in some a minimum fee of 30 baht is charged as entrance fee for foreigner and 10 baht for local. We missed some places; one of those is Bang Pa In summer palace, umm maybe another 10 years? I will be gradually posting some of the photos in my Photo Blog.

Dustbin is a rarity in Bangkok Departmental Stores.

If you are in Bangkok now, you will notice one strange thing. Dustbin seems to be missing in major shopping center. I was at Paragon and Central World today. I could hardly find one dustbin. Most has its hole sealed and has become just pure stand for smoker to put off their cigarettes. Why? The bomb lor during New Year, they are plans in the future to install transparent dustbins. Actually one of the bombs was just outside my housing estate, near the junction of the main road, scary? Not enough to scare off shoppers, throng of shopper is still seen crowding the shopping area. I believe Central World is now one of the biggest shopping mall in Thailand. If you have been to the old World Trade Center, then all you need to do is just multiply two that is the size of Central World. It is actually the same old World Trade Center but it’s just with a different name and its fully renovated and extended (at the back), too bad my wallet is still the same size……

@ Bangkok, stricter immigration rules.

Just arrived Bangkok, 2 hours ago, found that the immigration is bit stricter. They asked for boarding pass even though I am going into the country. They are some foreigner who was caught by surprise, I guess most of us will leave it in the plane or throw it away. And they even look through my passport and checked for the number of times and days that I am in Bangkok. I believe this is due to the recent changes in some rules like foreigner cannot spend certain number of days in certain number of months….so be warn, if you are one of those who works in thailand without any permit, you might end returning back immediately.

What I did during New Year 2007...

On the eve, I drove down to Melaka. We booked a night stay at A Famosa Resort. In my life time, this is the 3rd time I have been to Melaka. The first time I was there with my parents. The second time it was with my colleague at my previous company. Melaka is one of the nearest states from KL and it took me 14 years to go there again. It just took us approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach the resort via North South Highway.

We have booked an apartment. It is located at Beverly Hills Condominium. When we reach the reception we were told that we could only checked in after 3pm. Looking at our watch, the small finger is at 2, what do we do with an hour more to go. We decided to make our first tour of the resort, to a place called Animal World. It cost Rm38 per adult.

All types of chicken are found there, big, small, cute and etc. I spend more than 15 minutes, clicking and below is some photos.

On the left is my favorite photo in chicken world. The cute little chick is eying at my camera, as I click it brings up its head and its eye met my lens. As for the photo on the right, I am not sure what crime it has committed but its very sad to see it behind bars. No where to go, cannot even turn around, continue in another post.......
